WHY #GIVINGTUESDAY WORKS
Part of the magic is that this designated day for giving is taking advantage of one of the key key pillars of my TED is your Friend in Promotion framework.
The E in T.E.D. is for EVENTS, and wrapping this giving initiative up into an event allows you to utilize scarcity of time and urgency in messaging.
As a communicator, it is a gift when you can reference a ticking clock regarding a call to action.
THE DIFFERENCE IN APPROACH NEEDED
This means #GivingTuesday can be a huge opportunity for churches who want to enable giving in the community. This is the time to consider starting the Christmas giving season earlier in the calendar.
This year, #GivingTuesday is set for November 29, 2016.
And for most nonprofit organizations and churches, they shouldn’t think of it as a separate giving campaign.
This should be approached as the kick-off of the end of year Christmas fundraising campaign.
